China Telecom to Purchase 40 Million Units of CDMA 3G Smartphones

China Telecom announced that the company will procure 40 million CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) 3G Smartphones through a partnership with retailers and mobile phone manufacturers, according to a June 16, 2012 report by the Want China Times of Taiwan. China Telecom said the number of its CDMA 3G subscribers has increased to approximately 43.6 million as of March 2012, and the company projected that market demand for CDMA mobile phones will arrive at around 85 million units in 2012, and 45 million of the total will be Smartphones.
